Mercedes Automatic Transmission Service
Mercedes Automatic Transmission Service
Common Questions we get asked about the Automatic Transmission Service
So what is an Automatic Transmission service?
Mercedes Automatic transmissions have hundreds of moving parts inside, and they rely on clean transmission fluid to function correctly.
Transmission fluid degrades over time due to heat, and the filter fills with metal particles and other solids.
A transmission service ensures your transmission is filled with fresh fluid and new filters.
It’s simply the only thing you have to do, to maintain your Mercedes Automatic Transmission.
Why should I have my Automatic Transmission serviced?
By having your transmission serviced on time and before any poor-running symptoms occur, Mercedes owners often see their transmissions reach 500,000km before failure.Â
If your transmission shows signs of poor shifting or vibration, you may see performance improvements with a transmission service.
So it’s worth performing a service before considering transmission replacement or rebuild.
What's involved in an Automatic Transmission Service?
Our transmission services replace the old fluid in the transmission and torque converter.
It also includes replacing the internal filter and sump pan seals.
How often should I have my Automatic Transmission serviced?
120,000km is the standard maximum interval between transmission services in most Mercedes models.
If you have a Mercedes Van or SUV that is heavily loaded or used for towing, you should have your transmission serviced at approx 80,000km.
AMG vehicles also have a shorter transmission service interval. Some need to be done as frequently as 50,000km. Chat to us about your AMG for detailed advice.
